What more taxes, no way, I want manufacturing for the sake of employment and our country but most of my wage goes on taxes and bills and I beleive that these sectors have to change and adapt to a new way of shopping.

I agree with jessie31 There is more than the profit margin to consider when setting prices. maybe Australians should be content with lower wages?

Of course not! Don't like to pay GST at all. It's a rip off anyway, especially on large amounts and utilities. I agree with the comments from @BibbyKat & @Piano.

The GST will not save our retail sector. When will they ever understand that the underlying issue is the huge difference in price between items on the internet and items here. I purchased a brand name hands free earpiece for my mobile phone for $5 delivered and in the shops it was $30 plus. Add GST to the $5 makes it $5.50 - as you can see the GST will not save our retail rip-offs. Clothing has a minimum of 400% markup - how is that justified in today's economic climate? The retail sector needs to get smarter not just dreaming up excuses why they have poor sales.
