Once we were arriving at a shopping centre, and a moron in a huge 4 wheel drive parked in the disabled park near the door and leapt out in front of us. My husband said nice and loudly "You can tell his disability is that he can't read." The bloke spun around, but just went on his way. Some people have no conscience at all.

I think there are way to many fine's around! Its a money grab from council and does not solve parking problems. Complain all you like about people parking in parks they are not entitled to but the fact is there just is not enough parks for everyoneFirst in first served. Before anyone says Im obviously 1 that does this I am not. Certainly understand why people do it though!

If you had the problems walking that I and many others have you would not be saying this. If I could walk normally I would willingly park at the back of the car park. I dont use these because I like too , its because I NEED to.

Maybe better policing would also help - like reporting the rego number to the concierge of big shopping centres so they can fine the person concerned and embarrass them by announcing their rego over the loudspeakers advising they are parked illegally and will be fined.

I agree! But some place like The Meadow Mews in Launceston Tasmania don't care about the disabled Car park being taken by a non-disabled person. But when a normal car is parked longer that the time is permitted, then they jump on them.

Who worded this? Fines (noun) = plural. Is (verb) = singular. Messy.

The fine does not stop them parking in disabled spots. I have seen lots of cars that do not have disabled stickers in their windscreen. I used to have a disabled parking sticker but I stopped paying for it because I can never get into a disabled parking spot.

The disabled parking stickers are not free and only people with them displayed in their car should be allowed to use such spaces. Maybe their are not enough disabled spaces.

I agree with you there. Where I live there are 9 disabled parking spots in the WHOLE town. That includes the 2 shopping centres and the main street. I would like to know the formula the council uses to designate these spots. Obviously no one they know needs one.
